Gates open at 4:00pm and racing runs until 9:30pm. Open to all VW's (Air & H2O) and any other street cars that pass Tech. I wanted to invite everyone to the Second Annual ICABOD (Iowa City Area Bug/Bus Occursion in the Dale ) Camp out held in the Valley of the Cedar River - Palisades-Kepler State Park in Linn County, Iowa August 15th-17th. Come out to camp out in a beautiful park located on the Cedar River just outside Mt. Vernon/Cedar Rapids, Iowa. http://www.iowadnr.com/parks/state_park_list/palisades.html Reservations can be made for either electric or non-electric spots starting May 15th via the Iowa DNR Reservation Website (https://eservices.iowa.gov/iowaparks/index.php). Prices are $16 for electric sites and $11 for non-electric sites. In addition, there are 12 electric and 9 Non-electric sites on a first-come-first-server basis. Modern shower and restroom facilities are available, as well as a dump station. Please make reservations as soon as possible and pmail me for a site suggestion. I would like to have all of the VWs in one area but we cannot reserve an entire section - just site by site. There are both dock and trail activities available. A dock to the Cedar River is available for boating and fishing is available on the river banks. Trails include a variety of wildlife, scenic views, and exploration of Indian Mounds. We will once again be traveling to the Bi-State VW Club 13th Annual Show and Shine Picnic located in Hamption IL on Sunday Aug 17th. Attendance to the show is not required but there will be a caravan traveling from the camp out to the show on Sunday morning. This is a very worth-while show and I would like to bring a stronger showing to their events. The drive is about 80miles from the camp site on Hwy 30. At the intersection of Interstate 380 and Highway 30, head East 9 miles. Turn right onto Kepler Drive and into the park. The entrance of the park is in a grove of trees and is difficult to see. However, that grove of trees is the only cluster of trees on the highway. From the East, take Hwy 30 West. The park is about 4 miles West of Mt. Vernon IA. My name is Lezlie Mckinzie, along with my parents Bryan & Judy Godwin own A great Restaurant (ShindigZ) in Brock, Tx. (10-15 minutes west of Weatherford) We are having a Volkswagen Show/Contest on August 16th for charity. We would like to invite you and all your volts friends out that afternoon. We are asking the community to pay 1$ to vote on their favorite car. They will also be placed in the drawing for atleast 8 raffles with each vote. We will be advertising this event in the local papers and on the local radio station. At the end of the day we will tally the votes and award the top 3 cars with very nice trophies. Our local bank Weatherford National is going to play a big role in helping financially so all We need from you is to show up!!! My Restaurant will be giving all the participants a discount on you dinner and drinks. We do not sell alcohol but It is always welcome.( we must keep it Family Friendly.) We have received conformation that one group will be leaving Fort Worth at 4:30. We would like to start my event at 5:00. We have lots of great parking. Half of it has covered porches and the other half you can put up canopies.(we are in a shopping strip that will mostly be closed at that time so we have fill access to parking.) We are trying to beat the heat by doing late afternoon early evening. We can seat 60+ and have a Arcade to give you a break from the heat. All donations will be given to a local charity (parker county united way) I have asked your club presidents to send this asap so you can make plans to come. This show is being run in conjunction with a local AUGUSTOBERFEST celebrating our city's German heritage. It is open to any German AIR-COOLED vehicle ( vintage, custom, VW, Porsche, coachbuilts, pre-war and wartime). We are also welcoming and encouraging custom and classic bicycles to go along with the simple transportation theme. Dash plaques for the first 100 entries. "Top 20" entry judged awards. This show is hosted by D'Arcy Volkswagen of Joliet, 2521 Jefferson St., Joliet, IL 60435. This show is open to ALL Volkswagens, Water and Air Cooled! Registration is from 9:00-12:00, Awards at 3:00 There is a $10 registration fee plus 2 nonperishable food items for a local food pantry per vehicle, Same cost per swap space too! Dash Plaques and Goody Bags to the first 100. Show shirts to the first 80. Awards will be given to the Top 20 plus, Best of Show, Best Paint, Best Interior, Loudest Engine, Loudest Stereo, Sponsors Choice and Piece of Crap Awards. There will be a DJ supplying music all day and door prizes galore to be given out.(last year everyone attending received a door prize!) This year's DATR event is presented by Avalon Motorsports and Kerma TDI and will be held on Sunday, August 24th, at the Pikes Peak Community College in Colorado Springs, CO. The following is a brief list of show details and info: EVENTS Car Show - Classes by make and generation. Judged with trophies for best of class and runner-up. Dyno Shootout - A portable 2wd dyno will be on-site. Classes by vehicle configuration. Trophies for highest WHP of class. Slow Drags - The opposite of regular drag racing. The last one to the finish line wins. It's not just about going slow, it's about going slow in style. Trophy for final winner and special awards for best style and creativity. Event Specials and HUGE Raffle - We have a number of awesome sponsors and vendors that will be at the event offering big specials on their products and services. A HUGE raffle with prizes separated by vehicle type and generation will also be taking place throughout the day. With that said, be sure to mark your calendars for August 24th, 2008! This will be the 23rd running of this event and all types of VW's are welcome to enjoy this BNNTA family-oriented camping event. We've leased an entire lakeside campground (very nice facilities!) for our exclusive use - nothing but VWs as far as you can see! The BNNTA camping weekend features VW camping alongside 22 mile long Mark Twain Lake, an informal VW Bus show, lively competition for best individual and best group campsite decoration contest, a scenic countryside caravan on Saturday over to the historic rivertown of Hannibal, MO (home of Samuel Clemens, a.k.a. "Mark Twain"), awards and door prizes, campfire activities, slow drags on Sunday, informal parts swaping, etc. The total event/camping fee for each VW for the entire four day weekend is only $30.
