My drivers side door handle is tight to. I was checking the door rubber today to see if I can reduce the pressure.

I had a great time at Bug Fest Niagara. I wish I were on a trip like your taking, but our dog is older and is not as comfortable riding in the bus these days.

Have a great trip.

Yes, I believe the stress was caused by new door seals that put pressure on the latch. I have fixed that.

Swapped the handles so at least the drivers one works!

Took the drivers door lock apart. Looks like the handle is toast.

Looks like the driver and passenger may be the same, so I may swap them for convenience. I'll need a new handle.

Thanks guys! VW vacations are work vacations for sure. Stopped by FLAPS in Littleton and got P-B blaster, one of those old fashioned oiler cans with a flexible hose, and some Seal-All.

Now my drivers door does not open from the outside, so I'll have to take it apart. Hopefully don't need a new mechanism.

I also have gas leaking on a fill from the filler right at the cap. Not sure if it's just the cap not sealing right, or the elbow rubber which I recently replaced is not sitting right.

It was not bad until I overfilled the tank thinking it was not full. Gas spilled out the inside of the rear fender so it had to be coming out at the rubber elbow.

More fun!

Thanks Colin. I'll try that. Looking more today, it seems like the rear latch was a bit stiff. I oiled that a bit, have not taken off the door panel to look at this point. It is not bad opening today, but not where I would like it.

I use engine oil on rear hinge. The rear hinge has two separate bushings, one visible at the door and the other under the sliding door cover. Both need a good baptism of engine oil. Wipe off residual oil drooling over the next week or so with great gladness.

It does leave lubricant behind. It isn't a great penetrant, there are better things.

Originally designed to stop rockets from rusting... Smile

Thanks, I appreciate it! The WD-40 did work though, the door opens with no effort now. Even if it's just temporary until I grab the good stuff! Appreciate the offer - I think I'm going back via Montreal though.
