Back in H.S. (when Bugs were just another car) there was an ass-hat teacher who drove a Bug. We'd drag his car from it's parking spot into the isle, just for spite. (In retrospect, WE were the ass-hats!)  |
When I was in high school guys on occasion would take the then new Honda 600E's and lift them so they were half in the street and half on the sidewalk. Only took a couple of guys to do it. The driver would have to back down the sidewalk to the driveway opening to get back on the street. |

When installing elevators, my guys are working 55 feet in the air. We use two 80 foot JLG's with four guys and a Condor with Jib crane to manhandle it up into place. A good crew can install all four in 8 hours. I do NOT miss those days |
I used to hate heights. Money will make a person do strange things though. Now I kinda enjoy the thrill of it all.
Speaking of thrills, being at the top of a 28' ladder whilst a helo lands 20, from you will get the old sphincter muscle workin!

As an EW tech at Grand Forks I received orders and as a farewell the guys in my section picked up my bug and placed it sideways in the commander's parking spot. Thanks guys.

They are all impressive to watch. It's hard to imagine 850,000 pounds rising into the air, but that's what C-5's can do. I've been working around them for 27 years.
TDCTDI, what kind of work do you do? A&P?

I have a supplier near March Air Base, it's fun to watch the C-130's float by then see the f-16's come over sideways.

I lived in the flight path between Stewart AFB & where they would do parachute training. They would also train their pilots & there is nothing like hearing one of those powering out of a stall at a 45* angle.

A bunch of dashcams have a motion-activate feature.
Even my cheapie A118 does (thread); not sure how well that particular feature works though.
If you give it a big microSD card (can get a 64GB card off Amazon for $16 now..) you can get a decent amount of time (~9 hours ish with an A118 set to max) and just let it constantly record. I can't imagine it uses all that much power.
Good looking car, glad there doesn't seem to be any damage |
