Sorry for your loss Tram, I agree on the treatment not being that great, my Pops didn't get the chance to pass on the chemo. I have a feeling he would, since he, like many Dad's, had the power to see thru bullshit, knowing at that stage the cure was worse than the cancer, he was going to die from the cancer anyway. _________________ Tom

Crukab, I was diagnosed with stage 4 Melanoma six years ago. It had spread from spot on my scalp to my lymphnodes and my lungs. Long story short I was on a clinical trial for a drug now FDA approved called Navolumab. Diagnosed at 33, when I was 34 they told me I had a year to live. Now I'm 39 and cancer free. In the two years of the clinical trial I watched several other patients die. My dad died too in the meantime, but not from Cancer, so I completely understand the hole in your heart. Fuck Cancer. It's a terrible thing. But I guess I'm posting this to remind people that there is hope, even down in the blackest of holes. If anyone reading this hast lost a loved one, nothing will ever fill the void, but if you know someone who is struggling you have to stay positive and enjoy every day. |

Thanks for that Ray of Hope, we all need to stay positive, even sitting in that little room, Doc's voice seems far away, giving that horrid news. In 2 weeks it will be 2 years that my Pops has been gone from this world, but not from my head/heart. Fuck cancer indeed....... _________________ Tom

My brother just began chemotheraphy for his lung cancer. He had his first
round two weeks ago and his next is on the fourth.
It is real good to hear good news from some one who has a similar battle.

Just lost my Mom Saturday a.m. to lung cancer.Really, if you smoke your being a stupid selfish fool and just quit. Do it now. COPD is not a good thing to put upon yourself either.Spend the money from the cigs on parts. Don't wanna hear ANY BS about how hard it is to quit, even my own addicted ass did it ,cold turkey.Your loved ones will support you. Not only does cancer SUCK, it's also ugly to go through ,ask my wife!

Just lost my mother in law to lymphoma in the lungs last night. She's been in hospice here with us since late Feb.
She never smoked.

My condolences, sorry for your loss, not an eazy thing to go through for any involved.before during or after. Im a survivor...well thats what they tell me .sometimes I wonder. but I keep going for my kids. I lost a friend a little over a week ago.I was in tenn.never get to say by&didnt make any of the services. it sucks but ,some how we must go on till it's our final time and hope somebody is there for us.
I didnt like the hospice thing for my dad, morphine&starve them to death.not my idea of dignified death.but care facilitys arnt any better. Ill never get the condition of my dad when he went and that is not the way I wanted to remember him. so for me a bullit or pillow will do just fine....when it's time. were only hear for a short tim, some shorter than others, so make the most of it when you can and try to treet others as you want to be treeted and cared for. you just never know the toes you step on today may be attached to the butt you got to kiss tomarow...or they may be attached to the one wiping yours tomarow....with sand paper.
I dont beleave in the hearafter or any of that stuff.so make amends, get things straight/let it go or whatever while your hear. it's too late when the dirt fills in. |

Damn, I don't know what to say. I feel real sorry for your losses. I'm not big on religion so all I can offer is a request that you be there for the rest of your family. Take care, man, if you're in SoCal or make it out this way I hope I can touch bases with you. Like I said earlier, stay strong. |

Thanks for the good thoughts... I'm in the Eugene, Or. area actually.
I have to say that I'm not sure which is worse... the disease or the chemo. From where I'm standing, all the chemo did was ruin what time they had left and didn't prolong it much.
Maybe I'm cynical. Maybe I'm an ass. But if I ever get cancer and need chemo, I think I'd rather just be shot. _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.

I agree the treetment may be worse than the issue....and in my case....yup. thats the problem with helthcare. the dr's want to fiull thier pockets and dont give a shit if they effup or somebody you love or know an dont give a squat. I didnt have chemo, I had a sergon that was working by the slice and way too much radiation for me. do you think they care? no they dont. neither did the dr's woo treeted my cancer with antibiotics for 8+ years....yes it's my fault, I didnt blow my brains out sooner.
always check out the dr atleast 12 times.(on line not when she bends over) then check some more and get as much info as possiable. that way when you make an uneducated gess.... it will be the best gess you can make.I guess I should of done that.....
my wife just had a tatanium plate put in her arm/wrist... the screws were too long...I asked the surgon why he didnt cut them opff or shorten them....his reply??? oh I had shorter screws, but I just left the worse one out what a effing moron thing to do.and still 3 or more screws too long in there. I probably could of fixed it with some JB weld. brain dead dr's. i just dont get it. sorry for the venting. Im a tad tripolar due to my meds being off.....effing whoremoans. not sure if Im a teepee wigwam or tent...think Im too tents. |

Reading about Neal Caraway from Marion, Iowa dying from cancer. He was a long time VW builder/driver and requested a VW cruise at his wake. His buddies did it up right with 65 VW cruise and raised a bunch of money for cancer research!

i'm gonna say the chemo. they found a 16cm mass that was attached to my mom's ovary and a small section of bowel in late march. early may she had it removed and "everything looked good". when she went in for her 6 weeks check up there was already another 5cm mass in the same area despite "we got it ALL". first chemo they tried she reacted BADLY as soon as they started. gave it a week and switched to a different poison. she's actually doing her treatments but they are breaking her down pretty bad. they actually said maybe we will dial it back a bit when the last one put her in the hospital for 4 days last week. _________________ ITMC
