You thought a Golf MK1 with steel bumpers was a rare sight? Well here you have a model that has completely disappeared from the street scene; the Polo Derby GLS MK1 with the steel bumpers (only 13 fellow 77'ers of the Derby are still known in NL).
And not an average one, one with only 69.XXX KM original on the counter. Really wow .. This is a one of a kind .. We are amazed by the originality .. Those who have an eye for the details can still spot the original stamps everywhere in the sheet metal, wheels, belts, windows, etc. Etc. This is a piece of history that should never be wasted or ruined!
We hereby offer an unspoiled original VW Polo Derby GLS MK1 from 1977, the first production and introduction year of the Derby!
The 86H Polo was originally delivered 15/09/1977 by s.a. D'Ieteren N.V. With a manual 1.3 (60 HP) in the color "L13A Dakotabeige D5D5" and that in combination with the original "Tabak" color interior and fresh carpet makes her a real eye-catcher! If you ask us; A true iconic 70's color composition.
She has only 69.XXX KM on the clock and the story that goes with it immediately confirms the low KMs.
1977: Delivered to the 1st owner on 15/09/1977.
1991: The 2nd owner took over her in 28/08/1991 where the technique had to be checked.
1992: 17/01/1992 entered a garage to fix the technique, once presented for inspection on 14/07/1992 and passed for the Belgium green card.
1993: Shortly afterwards in 1993 it ended up with a water-cooled collector where it was stored inside a warehouse until early 2022. The collector very unfortunately died of COVID-19 in 2021, after which the collection was sold and the Polo ended up in our hands.
The Polo has been technically checked and refreshed by us. And that is clearly noticeable. She runs, brakes and shifts fine and she is also super solid (no welding required). She has received the necessary work, such as: Major service incl. Timing belt and water pump, brake system refreshed, cooling system refreshed, various new gaskets of both the engine and carburetor, new fuel lines, fuel system incl. Tank cleaned, complete interior and exterior professionally cleaned etc. Etc.
As mentioned earlier, this is a Polo with an extremely low mileage, it is and also looks purely original. In addition, there are light patina / user spots visible in the paint, which adorns her, both the tires and all window rubbers are still original and various other things, which may be the golden ticket for a purist, but which may be a point of attention for someone else… We do assume that she is Matching numbers!
She currently has Belgian papers. With this age she is free in NL road tax and no longer subject to MOT in 4 years!
