"it's not a car it's a volkswagen" promtional license plate. these plates were originally made for internal use only by 'volkswagen of america' for it's dealers in the mid 80's.. not for sale! they were reproduced without permission from vw , later the 'knock offs' were confiscated for infringement of a registered trademark ( VW) and confiscated thus no longer available, what i've got is the original made by volkswagen plate i got it from a friend who worked in the vw dealer parts dept.the way to tell the difference is the original plate had an 'embosed' ;that is stamped VW logo as the repops were flat with the VW painted on, it is metal with a baked on finish it is brand new never on a car $35.95 shipped within the continental U.S. email for additional shipping elsewhere.very hard to find, from my collection. thank you cj
