My 66 Bus is running 2017 , AS21 case. Got leak at flywheel, anxiously yanked off flywheel before checking endplay, crap. Anyway I'm confused: flywheel originally 6v, has been re-ringed to 130 splines ,running autostick starter, works great.

Unfortunately No oring or any groove for one. So question is, ---Best to include metal, or no gasket between crank and flywheel?? I polished the 'snout 'glassy smooth. Reading more----.Some say use a thin loctite 518(anaerobic gasket sealant) between and the metal gasket. It's 8 dowelled and had a metal one. I'm well acquainted with seal installation, and have dial guage rig for end play.

Original 6 volt stepped non-o-ring flywheel had paper gasket. But I think you should use the way it was especially if you have 8 dowel.

If you had the OG 6 volt stepped flywheel you would set the endplay with the gasket counted in the shim stack. Then replace it with another fresh one.

Your metal 8 hole "gasket" will count in the shim stack as well.
