Just an FYI for those with early cars. I just bought the salt and pepper cloth from SMS, so they have that and the correct vinyl if you are going that route with your car. _________________ Go Reds! Smash state!

Excellent! Are they making the covers again also? Any ideas? _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.

That I don’t know I just asked for the cloth and bought three yards. I also bought the upholstery from them and am having them do the heat seaming. _________________ Go Reds! Smash state!

A buddy bought some front covers last year. Took 8 months from placing the order to receiving it. _________________ 1963 Notchback - Ruby Red

That’s why I just buy the material and have someone local do the sewing. _________________ Go Reds! Smash state!

Yes, they are making the covers again. The sample pics they sent me looked spot on! Supposedly 2 months or so for a set to be made up. Don't be in a hurry.
The salt and pepper pattern is of course directional, and the fabric is cut from a bolt width of 60 inches, so that should help with yardage calculations.
I vaguely recall that someone had a seam between cloth and vinyl open up after a while, on a seat cover from maybe a couple of years ago. Hopefully that was fixable and due to feedback is no longer a problem. _________________ "Criticism comes easier than Craftsmanship"

I was told by a reliable source that the heat seaming of the cloth to the vinyl failed, so they had it stiched. _________________ Go Reds! Smash state!

Thanks, good to know, I will inspect closely and stitch proactively if need be. _________________ "Criticism comes easier than Craftsmanship"

Sounds like a good idea. Also, refrain from pulling too hard on the covers when installing, if that is a thing. _________________ "Criticism comes easier than Craftsmanship"

I got to see a set of the recent run of seat covers and they were very nice. They have the heat seam template for upper door panels as well and they set they made was near perfect. _________________ '68 Lotus White T34 automatic sunroof

not sure who made the covers with SMS material on the 63 I had - they were great when I owned it but I have seen pics of the car later on and the rear seat look destroyed. Id be pissed - those were not cheap
they were one of the batches bought here in the forums in the first sms run as far as I know. I'd advise buyer be aware of potential shrinkage and loss of funds _________________ Stop dead photo links! Post your photos to The Samba Gallery! |

Their website search is pretty spotty. Anyone have a link to that product? _________________ Current Fleet:

If you call and ask or email with a picture they should be able to pull up the S&P cloth and silver-beige vinyl pretty quick. _________________ 1963 Notchback - Ruby Red

Thanks, I'm thinking of buying cloth to make easy slip on covers for a couple of cars. I like the look and the (literal) coolness! _________________ Current Fleet:
