I’ve looked through lots of posts but can’t decide on a front tire size.
I’ve got drop spindles and a 4” narrowed adjustable beam. I’ve also bought some 15x5.5 Superspeed wheels from Cip1 (https://www2.cip1.com/c32-ss5205-5515-sb/).
I’d like to keep a bit of width for bigger contact patch.
Stock smoothies with 165/80r15’s rub pretty quickly on the headlight buckets.
Would 175/60r15’s be too risky? Would 165/60r15’s be safer, or am I going to need to go even narrower?
Thanks |

I keep hearing that the 175/60’s are too wide. But, maybe someone will chime in with actual experience. How low are you? _________________ 1973 standard, yellow, lowered, 3” narrowed front, 1600 blo-thru turbo w/single dell 15.4@86, so far

I’m sitting pretty low right now. I’m actually having trouble getting my adjustable beam adjusted higher. I’ll try to get it adjusted up a bit and see if that makes a difference. |

I’ve ordered some 175/55r15’s and will see how they go. |

Ok, got my wheels and tyres on. But beam shifted loosened a tad when moving, so back up on the jack stands tomorrow to fix that up.
175/55r15 Bridgestone Potenzas up front
185/65r15 Bridgestone Ecopias (all they had) in the rear
CIP Super Speeds 15 INCH X 5.5 INCH WIDE - (BACKSPACING 3.80INCH ET+14) 5 BOLT X 205MM
I’ll play with the stance a bit most likely. Front is at about 115mm at the lowest point.

They rub headlight buckets from the height, not the width. I would try to raise it some more than pictured. Get the sidewall to fender height closer to what you have in back. Will still have rake but look a little more balanced _________________ Pres. Rivercity VW Club www.rcvwclub.org
