I just bought this 59 as a parts car and noticed that the body was very well done back in the day. Could this be an old forgotten company that built the body? The rear fenders are steel and the front was replaced at some point but under all the junk the rest looks like some good workmanship. I'm thinking maybe a very early dune buggy?? It might be worth bringing back to how it was but I can't find any info.

That looks pretty unique. I've never seen one like that. Does it have some kind of floor frame in it or just the pan? |

I agree that it's a homegrown Bug. MAY have been fairly nice workmanship back in the day, but not a commercially built "Dune Buggy".
Looking at the pictures leaves me wondering where in this high desert you live. Since I too live in the High Desert. _________________ Richard

I say it was built by an old, but not forgotten company. VW. Seems obvious it's a cut-down bug with a wide-eye baja front end. You can see the contour of the rear quarter, the bug dash, windshield & frame, door was removed and a flat panel added in it's place, and we're told it's on a bug pan. I would bet the front-end was hacked bug too when it was built, with the baja kit added later.
Lots of fun has been had in similar rigs, although most kept the bug roof and doors. Cutting all that off gives this one a unique look.
