Has anyone used the Airkewld or VW Nos box? How did it go? I have a 70 Ghia, and am not interested in rebuilding my box myself. Thanks for any insight or other vendors you would recommend |

VWNOS all the way.
You won’t regret it.
I don’t have any experience with the Airkewld box as I can’t justify the cost but my VWNOS box is great. It’s been three years and I haven’t had to touch it. _________________ Volkswagen!

Thanks for the the replies. It's good to see the vendors actively repping their products.
Jeff and Ian, glad to hear from guys here I respect, did you go with upgraded bearings or the standard ones? Thanks! |

i went for the upgrade bearings, not sure if it made any difference in function but it should add to longevity. |

The NOS bearings have more balls. From what I have seen the number of balls makes the movement of the worm smoother.
The balls wear. The more balls there are the more surface area so ideally less wear. There are 2 extra balls in the NOS bearings along with the cage being steel instead of plastic.
You can see the balls and cage here:
