So crazy question. I have a spare Decklid that I am going to possibly use as a patch panel for my c-pillar (thanks death foam). Has anyone attempted this? It seems that the contour is the same. Otherwise I’ll attempt to find C-pillar.

I wouldn’t use the deck lid. Just get scrap and start your piece in the seam where the rain gutter is |

Why not use the deck lid if it is scrap and the right sort of contour?
The benefit is that using original steel will give you a better weld solution as the metal composition will be the same rather than use scrap from an unknown source.
Whenever I’ve had to do rust repairs I have always used metal from donor sections even if the section is from a different part. The only caveat is that the thickness is the same. _________________ 1968 1500 RHD Lotus White Beetle since birth. In the hospital for major surgery

Looks like you need way more than a spare deck lid. The whole rear fender mounting strip appears to be rusting. You may need a donor and/or repair panels. I currently happen to be working on the same area on the other side and it is pretty tricky.
All in all it depends on whether you want a quick fix-up or if you want to strip everything and do a proper long-lasting repair. |

I am going to do it right. I have a couple of years to tackle it. I want to do it slow and steady. If I can’t do it I found a good body man that won’t take every last penny I have. _________________ John

Pull the fender off and strip the paint off the rusty areas.
Cheaper/better to do your own bodywork. _________________ https://imgur.com/user/FisherSquareback/posts

I'd say, get fresh repair panels where possible, and for the rest find donor cutouts. |
