came acroos these photos of swedish tractors on what appears to be the same farm, the side engined one seems quite involved for a diy machine...and there's also an extra heinkel tourist/kabine motor fitted in some pics!

Nice home grown tractor! It looks to me like a progression on the same build. He used a second transaxle and side mounted the engine in a effort to get lower gear selections, makes perfect sense to me. Geared for the car and with stock sized tires only 1st gear would be of any use for tractor work. I see though that he did not eliminate the forward pointing axle. I suspect he would have done something to lock up the spider gears as it would not transmit power through to the second transmission without. Perhaps he was using the forward facing brake as a parking brake?
As for the second engine, likely for PTO powered implements. _________________ Our cars get old, we get old but driving an old VW never gets old! |
