the last parts welded in that still go without the body.
The frame is so far ready. That was the easy part
It's time to put the body back on the frame
Now comes the tricky part. First getting both in the right place and then the welding |

Have now spent 2 days building a rack to get the body back over the frame.
Not so easy because both do not touch anywhere.
In the lower area is all gone. With this construction I can align the 4 corners in height and push them in all directions.
It was also important to me that I can install the doors at any time and see if everything fits together.

Reconstruction of the body now begins.
I think the best way is to start with the B-pillars.
Alignment without a reference point is difficult. It all takes a long time. Assemble, measure, mount, check....... It would be nice to have a second bus as a model to see how the parts fit together.
At the top I added a piece of steel. Then I have the possibility to mount a seatbelt.
The left B-pillar is mounted to 3/4
To align the B-pillar to the cargo area doors, I connected the doors together. This way I can hook them into the top of my construction and easily check if the pillar is in the right place.

Connecting the cargo doors together is such a great idea.
I really enjoy following your build. _________________ BUS BOYZ |

Thanks for this pic, it’s the one spot that I was looking for to reconstruct on mine. _________________ Everybody born before 1975 has a story, good, bad, or indifferent, about a VW.

On the driver's side, I once mounted a door to the rest of the A-pillar. It seems to fit on the B-pillar.
Bulkhead is now mounted and welded in place
The B-pillar needs a lot of modification work
90% of the work is look, measure, check. over and over again |

Today's work.
The outside of the B-pillar must be adjusted.
First cut in half
It is 3 millimeters too short at the top.
I have extended it a bit and adjusted the opening for the hinge.
Here the embossing does not match my door.
Cut off, adjusted and back in with it
I also have to change the lower part. The part is more curved and stands out in the middle 3-4 millimeters

The rear area is cleaned and freed from rusty metal.
Still some work until new sheet metal comes in
The right side I welded to the rest of the angle the new.
There was a small mishap with the right one. 10 days break. I call it "Scar on PGSG"
At the left side I have filled the gap with epoxy. I do not want to break the patina by welding there
It's going slow at the moment because I have to assemble and adjust each part before I install it. There are a lot of sheets together. _________________ my current challenge

Welded one of the D-pillars
Small areas sandblasted for spot welding.
Welded the inner part
Repaired the outer part with pieces of sheet metal and preserved as much patina as possible.

Wheel Housing were too long and the shape had to be adjusted.
A bit of shrinking and stretching to get from 92.5 to 90 cm.
First test assembly whether everything fits
