That and turtles all over the roads here means springtime, that coupled with pollen and allergies off the scale, love it. springtime used to be many VWs running hot and overheating issues. Love that too. |

was up a bit north this weekend where it was snowing and I could hear the peepers out. Don't think I ever recall experiencing that one. |

I know what the sound like . I grew up next to a swamp in new hampshire. I was just saying I've never heard them while I was watching snow accumulate on the ground. |

We stopped in VA yesterday , busy two lane, to move a big ass snapping turtle that was crossing the road, after seeing a painted turtle at the house in the am.
Lost the brakes in the 01 LR Discovery a few miles later (burst hard line) but that ended well, its good to be alive. Plenty of peepers while waiting on AAA. _________________ my59: Well son, my grandfather died before I got to drive it, so does that answer your question?

And my first thought was part of an ancient wood plane, the thing that clamps the blade IIRC.

I don't know what a wood frog is, but I locked up the brakes on the buggy a couple of nights ago when a huge bullfrog hopped out in front of me on the way home. I was going less than 20mph, but still need to apologize to my neighbors for the midnight tire screeching.
I've been hearing a bullfrog croaking inside one of the drain pipes for a couple of years now. I wonder if this was him/her? _________________ Brian

Can't say I ever jammed on the brakes for a frog but I did for a moose two mornings ago!
The peepers here are pretty quiet this spring due I think to it being exceptionally dry. With a slough out back of the house normally they are almost deafening in the evening this time of year. |

Around the middle of March the German road crews put up fences about 8" tall next to lakes and ponds by the roads and a frog crossing sign. A few things come to mind-protect the frogs and keep the insects down, or keep the frogs off the roads so they don't cause accidents or if there is so many smashed frogs on the road it can get very slick. _________________ '56 pan Dune Buggy since '69
