I sent some solvent proof gloves via Amazon to Gary’s and Jake’s for you guys to use at the solvent parts wash station. Skin absorbs that stuff and can really make a person sick in the short and long term. Got to protect your largest organ (skin) from solvents, oils and greases, and our lymph systems and organs. Especially imporrant for we VW folks who have repeat exposure to that stuff! Brando |
thanks Brando that was so nice of you! we got them and we appreciate you looking out for us |

Awesome! VW Life YT is like my spiritual VW home, you’re keeping the vintage VW hobby alive and I’m thankful for that. Inspires me to get out and work on my projects. - Brando _________________ **SUPPORT THE SAMBA**

Woah! Thanks for the shout out! Surprised the heck out of me. The production on this episode was so good, Matt! I laughed so, so hard when the pink VW interior popped up with that funny sound. Holy smokes, lol.
Hey, with that Vanagon, check the Fuel Pressure Regulator, if it's toast, the rail will never build up the correct pressure - even with a brand new pump. If the pump is running, it's working. Most likely the FPR or clogged fuel lines from the tank to the engine (less likely).
Also, when testing the fuel pressure, no need to crank it over, just remove the air filter, turn the key on, and use a screw driver to push open the flap inside the air flow meter; this causes the fuel pump to run and you can test pressure that way without cranking.
Love the team work on this project. You guys are great. Keep up the great work! - Brando _________________ **SUPPORT THE SAMBA**

Holy Hoard, Batman! What a haul. I loved the wagon cam, Jake Brake (when Jake was the 914 Brakes) and all the cool camera shots, Matt!
I can't believe the stuff you guys do down there in Texas, it's incredible. I want to come down and spend a weekend working at HQ! It's a VW paradise. Plus, I have L-Jetronic Fuel Injection knowledge! - Brando _________________ **SUPPORT THE SAMBA**

As long as there's fuel pressure and no vacuum leaks, the L-Jet Fuel Injection will probably work just fine.
If you can, replace the fuel injector seals and fuel hoses on the engine, not too terrible of a job - and sure helps keep the VW from bursting into flames (did you see The Samba main page gallery this month? VW's aflame!).
I think you guys all ready replaced the "S" boot, also check the air hoses to the Aux Air Regulator, which sometimes gets loose and kinked. Any intake air leaks will cause hard start and rough running conditions.
Keep up with the awesome camera work and production, Matt! VW Life makes my Thursdays so much better, gets me excited to get out there and work on my VW projects! _________________ **SUPPORT THE SAMBA**

all is well thanks for checking. sometimes real life gets in the way of VW Life. We all have full time jobs, families and responsibilities that get in the way of having fun. |

Seaside is being such a jerk! I didn't care for that fat, weird rubber jacket for the fuel pump. I've never seen one of those before. The late fuel injected beetles don't have them, neither does my '74 412. Maybe a vanagon thing?
Strange how the starter is sticking, why is it doing that! Ugh.
Looking forward to the 2022 Harvest video! _________________ **SUPPORT THE SAMBA**

I wondered if they used a Bosch “Premium” remanufactured starter in the van? Apparently they are now having a high failure rate out of the box. My buddy had two and he knows of another fail out of the box. Some people now are recommending the inexpensive Pure Energy by MPA rebuilt as a better alternative. I put an MPA in my 76 bus last week. The core charge was only $23. I wonder how long it will last? I’ll have the one I took out rebuilt locally. _________________ Keep on Busin'
