I found the bus out in the forest, it had sat for 22yrs. I pulled it out in January and have been working on it and had it worked on. It now has become my daily driver. Still lots to do, but well worth it.
The day of the find.
Took this picture this morning...just about three months later.

Inside the bus I found a bazillion moths living in the leftover wood paneling (sp?) and insulation. The motor was also sitting inside of it and lots of old pull tab beer cans and bottles. I've got some rust issues to deal with on the inside, but I've seen worse or heard of worse here on the Samba. _________________ '67 Kombi/EZ Camper

LMFAO!
Really, good job. I saw those pics in the gallery and was totally amazed at how clean that thing turned out. Its almost as if the moss and leaves preserved that original paint. I have never seen somebody bring back a bus in that bad of shape in such little time like yours. Props to you _________________ GFK

Maybe you should post what you had to do and which products you used to freshen her up like that. The scarcity of OG paint busses like yours is growing and this way you could change some peoples ways of thiking before they break out the primer and rattle cans so quickly. _________________ GFK

That's what really sucks about the paint looking as good as it does, is that I have to cut out some cancer...i.e. cargo door rocker, back bottom corners, and the bottom of the inside of the passenger door. What I did was completly gutted out all the rotten stuff and completly dried it out. Then I used a product called "Mothers California Gold" (I think) rubbing compound No.7 to rub it out. I did this all by hand and went through two cans of the stuff in about three days. I did have to sand and use POR15 on the front window sills before replacing those. Being that the front windshields were broke for so long the cab floor pans are rusted through also. I've got the replacements for the rocker and floor pans, just waiting to put them in. Right know I've got a sheet metal template of the floor put down there just to make it road worthy for temporary. I've got a lot to learn, but am more than willing. Thanks for all the compliments. _________________ '67 Kombi/EZ Camper
