Well, the 3 bond/yamabond sealant I used to previously seal my case wont budge. I tried using rubbing alcohol and a HF plastic tile scraper. No luck. I can take small amounts if I use my fingernail to scrape the corners but that's about as far as I've made it. Any suggestions? Chemicals? Thanks

Try brake cleaner or acetone.

alcohol won't cut anything..
Acetone, Mineral spirits, Kerosene will all work well.

I’ve use this for 40 years and cleans up easy. Best part is you can buy it anywhere

Why are you taking it apart?

Sealing the case is similar to the oil thread

I have used the Aviation, Gaskacinch, Loctite 518, and Curil

I will use Gaskacinch on my next one

remember when i strted to assemble the engine as a 1776? and pinched a bearing Smile well, afer rechecing the crank journels, they were out of spec. so now im building a 1904 with better parts. tis time however, it will be done right. balanced, blue printed, etc. now im just waiting on parts to come in so i can do a mock up and send the rotating assembly out for balancing.

Yamabond. Tribond and Permatex MotoSeal are all similar products. Ive used MotoSeal for about 25years on rebuilds.
A scraper like an Exacto knife will lift the product without damaging the case. A PLASTIC SCRAPER will NOT work.
