And last for the day, I installed the fresh chromed front bumper and powder coated brackets.
And now its ready to go to West Coast Classics to get the headliner installed.

Thanks everyone. The car is currently at West Coast Classics having the headliner and carpet put in. It should be home next week and I will have new photos to share. Not much left to do before its cruising time! _________________ Aircooled Vintage Works

If you don't mind asking, What is the rough cost of a headliner installation? _________________ Schrodinger's cat walked into a bar and it didn't.

I guess it all depends on who you go to and what prep needs to be done. Im paying $800 for that job and glass install as well. _________________ Aircooled Vintage Works

Small detail things inside got done. I changed all the knobs to gray and added new chrome rings behind them
So the car was basically to the point where it was ready for interior and since I wasn't about to tackle my own headliner install, I booked it into West Coast Classics to get that work done.
Towing at night kind of sucks
So the next day I headed up to WCC and met the car there along with Lenny to go over the interior job.
The plan was to install the headliner, windows and door panels and carpet kit while it was there. Here it is part of the way through
And here it is when I showed up to pick up the car a few days later.
And finally back home
I decided to have a new windshield installed since my original one was bubbling pretty badly around the edges. The rest of the glass I cleaned up here at home before taking it to WCC with some polish and it looks as good as new. _________________ Aircooled Vintage Works

Once the car came home I did a quick clean up and snapped a few photos of the interior as it was.
The behind the seat details that are usually forgotten
Got my Full circle Type 3 Horn ring installed finally.
And this is where the car is at today, with just a few more jobs to do yet, but looking more like a finished cruiser than ever.

Beautiful work! I'm loving everything you're doing to this car. Makes me want to get back into a beetle again. _________________ and take the kids for instance "Are we going in the Volkswagen bus?" and they say "Yay!" and clap their hands and if it's a glorious day you can slide the sunroof back and let a little of the glory in and all of a sudden, it stops looking funny.

Thanks man, I know what you mean. I mostly had Buses before this car and as much as I dig buses, its a good feeling building up a bug to cruise. Its a fun project that can be done at home no matter what the budget. _________________ Aircooled Vintage Works

I spent a few hours the other day getting the rest of my interior installed. I am changing the shifter in the car from the Berg one I had installed, but I will post that up a little later. For now I removed that shifter and got started.
Rear seat installed.
New mats in. It was a shame to cover up that nice powder coat but the mats are not bad to look at
The Wolfsburg West mats come with none of the holes punched out for the E brake, heater control, or shifter. I used a few hole punches to get the holes cleanly cut. I have seen so many cars where guys use razor blades or scissors to chop holes in the rubber mats and it never looks right.
I was then able to get the front seats in and call the interior done!
And of course I couldn't pass up a beauty shot of this beauty...
