So I have a mostly original '55 that needs a respray. And it NEEDS a respray, so it's getting one. The car was originally white and the interior is white, so I won't be changing that...the paint in the interior is surprisingly nice and only needs touch up.

But the wife claims she doesn't like white cars. I argue that there is not a nicer color when it's dripping with chrome and the correct red wheel accent colors make it pop. So I'm looking for pix of nice looking white ovals.

Have any photos I can use as ammunition as this argument rages?

TIA,

Steve

You can paint it whatever color you want but white wasn't used until 1958.

Looking at your photos Steve, your 55 is NOT white, it is light beige (L275).

White bugs look like the egg ship in Mork and Mindy. I like it.

Thanks. Nice looking cars and they'll help. Yes, I am talking about light beige. I thought that would be clear since we're talking about Ovals. She looks at my light beige car and sees it as a white one. I'll be grateful for pix of any spectrum of white including beige, light beige, French beige, mode beige, off white, buff, Tuscan, unbleached silk, cream or whatever you have. But not ecru.

Thanks,

All you need to do is look at Bill Bowman,s car about as fine an example of an original light beige 55 as you,'ll find. Bill,s posted photos of his a lot and there is an article on his car under a topic on beige ovals including Nile and prairie.

The problem is, it isn't clear... When you ask for "white" you get what the majority of people on this planet to be considered white and that is the traditional snow white/pure white, off-white and possibly cream. That's about it.

I realize on a paint scale beige and whatnot are in the white family but, to most people, beige would be more along the lines of tan and I don't know anyone (except you) that normally thinks of these colors as "white".

This is like saying grey is black.

True, but is there a whiter shade of pale?
