Here are the factory "K" (fuel system) manual troubleshooting charts:
Looks like you're on the right track in suspecting the MAP if everything else checks out. See "engine not reaching full output" middle of the 2nd page.

Yeah my car is Aug 71 so it's an early 72 but the system I bought is off a 73 I believe. |

That works too! Just FYI- pressure switch is 1968/9 only. In 1970,full throttle enrichment moved to the MAP until 1973, when it was moved to the 5th prong on the TPS. They don't clarify this at all.
I'd suspect the throttle enrichment first on your setup.
However, you never did answer the question if this condition existed before the swap. I'm asking because a worn cam can cause this as can an exhaust blockage due to a baffle coming loose internally.

An also when you Rev it up in neutral to that certain rpm when it wants to start "cutting in an out" it starts to blow black smoke like it's rich. |

I know they're bosch plugs. Don't know what heat range they are. I will put one out in a little bit and give you the number. |

OK, if they are made anywhere but Germany and/ or if they are Platinum they need to go.

I can only get Russian-made Bosch W8AC plugs now. For whatever it's worth, they work perfectly in my car.
72squareguy, check your plug wires. Inspect them carefully for cracks or splits, and watch them with the engine running in the dark. If any of them have any spots along the wire where it's glowing blue, it's a bad one. _________________ 71 Elm Green FI A/T Squareback |

Did you set it up per Bentley?
How is the valve adjustment? _________________

Yes I set exactly how the book wanted it. I ran thru the valves this morning. Funny thing is they weren't tight to where they had no clearance bug they seemed a little tight for me. I set them at .007 and it ran a little different at idle. Are these systems that sensitive to valve adjustment or is it just my imagination? |

I think you may be on to something about the throttle enrichment Tram. I pulled off the connector for the throttle switch then plugged it back and now it's doing its little issue at an even HIGHER rpm! |

Very sensitive to manifold vacuum which valve adjustment affects directly. _________________

Just for fun, loosen your set screws on the TPS so that it will move if you move it but not just flop, run it, and while you run it see if you can get the TPS in a happy spot where it doesn't do it at all. You may simply be hitting full throttle enrichment way too early.

Hey tram. I tried to find the happy spot for the throttle switch. Couldn't find one. Nothing changed. But this is my latest, as I had the throttle wide open in neutral it was doing its little issue then it worked passed it for a sec then popped loudly back thru the intake. |
