Anyone have a recommendation for seat heaters? On my '74 SB, I installed a great set which I found online in Germany. However, lost the receipt, so have no clue what the company's name is. They keep you nice and warm (not lukewarm like others I've used) and have 2 heat settings. I'm planning on installing the premium ones in the front.
I do have an extra set of pads that I'm underwhelmed with their ability to warm up the seats. So, since this is going to be my last VW project for a while, I think I'm going to use those heaters for the rear seats.
For the most part, I'm a self-admitted purist, so the switches will be hidden yet accessible. _________________ 1973 412 Wagon

There was a thread I will link to in the am. There are 3 some premium kits out there. The grids are largely made by about 2-3 companies. Its all in the controls.
After having heated seats in my Golf for 4 years...and they are superb.....I will be putting them in my 412. The controls.....I will put in the dash ashtray. Pop it up and heater controls are there. If I put them in the back the controls in the back ashtray spots. Ray |

That is a great idea, I may hijack it if my switches don't fit on my A/C evaporator. _________________ 1973 412 Wagon

Its a toss up. I have thought about mounting the switches for heated seats on the door cards...maybe just below the armrest. That would mean a bigger wire boot to work out in the hinge area...but I already have stereo wires there so its not a huge deal.
This would free the pop up ashtray for putting satellite radio controls in if I cannot get the head unit I want with both blue tooth and satellite ready. Ray |
