I'm looking at getting a set of early slotted wheels for my 63 squareback. There is this set in the classifieds now for $395 http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=614069 I guess I'm wondering how tough it is going to be to find a set and how much I should expect to spend?? Do these seem like a good buy? Usually I'd plan on just hitting the swap meets at some of the VW shows, but with gas and everything the way it is I'm not sure that I'm going to make it to any any time soon... |

nothing from him is a good buy, you can expect that he paid bottom dollar, and will sell for top dollar
if I were looking for slotted early rims, I would put a wanted ad in the classifieds, and buy then one at a time if I had too. _________________ Stop dead photo links! Post your photos to The Samba Gallery! |

Thanks. I kind of figured that but I'm pretty new to the T3 scene so I wasn't sure.
There are 2 ads in the classifieds now (other than that one) that are for T3 wheels that look like early ones. From what I've read 1) there were no T3 wheels with hubcap clips and 2) there were also slotted T3 wheels somewhere in the 66-67 years... is there anything else I should look for in making sure I get the 'correct' ones? and how can I tell an early one from one of the later slotted wheels (if I'm remembering right about the 66-67 slotted wheels)? Either way, I don't see any ad that has 4 available other than that one I posted, so I guess a wanted ad is in order. |

I'm gonna hold out for some slotted ones for now (smoothies'll keep me out of the 1500 club ) but I'll keep it in mind. |

That first ad is a joke! Since when do you "powder coat" wheels on only the face and leave in the inside looking like crap??
$395 for those wheels is a rip. _________________ Phillip Bradfield

Yeah... I'm still learning, which is why I ask. I'm just glad there's a good resource like this forum to keep me from making bad decisions |

Those with the multiple slots are '66 and '67 beetle. The Type 3 had the 4 slots. _________________

'66 and '67 beetle did not have clips. The offset is NOT correct. _________________
