Today managed to find some time to shoot some photos. Trying to make a list of parts that i need to buy. It is difficult to get them locally so i got to bring them in together to save some shipping.
Severe rust at spare tyre well.
rust and hole at bulkhead too
No keys come along when bought it. It's a L profile ignition, not correct for oval.
A peek inside gas tank. Good that Fuel valve is there.
Engine come seperately.

Found it abandoned in a garage in a small town. It was left in the shade under a tree. It should have been in better condition if it is covered. Got it home after some hard bargain. Too bad that i didnt manage to shoot some photos when i found it.

Took out the gas tank today. Brake line to master was broken. Hole for choke cable enter chasis was blocked off.
2 bolt cylinder, right for 57. Check in WW website, it cost $98 for rear and $89 for front! so much higher than cylinder for 60'.
Does it looks like 57 fender?

The bottom of that car is pretty rotten, not trying to be a downer...
Not too often you see the front bulkhead rusted thru. Definitely appears the bottom side of the body will need to be cut out and replaced.
Good luck |

Hello Bleeds..just glanced thru' thread on your 57. Nice work. I wish i have the facility to do sand blast for the body and power coat for the floor pan. Did your oval come with working semaphore? Is than a 6v? One side of mine is not complete.

yup, i noticed rust thru at the bulkhead when i bought it, the rest of the chasis looks ok. Flloor pan and heat channel need to be replaced. Considering oval is pretty rare here, i didnt give 2nd thought about the condition when i bought it. I have not seen more than 10 oval here. |

PO told me that this engine had a full rebuild and then has been sitting for years without being fired up. After opening up, it looks true that it has clean heads, new valves and new pistons. The pistons were wrongly installed with the arrow pointing wrong direction though. valve springs have not touched any oil and they all rusted.
Short block didnt show any sign of rebuild. Anyhow,I am glad that i took this path to open up the engine to take a look inside.

check the fit of the gland nut in the crankshaft before getting too far into the build. with that extra "lip" on the non threaded shaft, it does not look like a 36hp gland nut to me. 36hp gland nuts should be fully smooth there and not have a lip. |

Thanks for the advice, will take a look at the garage tomorrow. Bought it from WW, hope it is correct. |

i guess what i meant was to check to make sure it threads down all the way without that lip hitting the crankshaft.
the threads are the same as a later gland nut.
maybe WW had them manufactured differently, i am not sure. |
