You may be in luck depending on your situation. Check out this eBay ad which happens to be in Vancouver, Washington.

This 412 has a roof rack, and there might be other parts you can use or sell. It is also a Best Offer ad, so it wouldn't cost anything to throw a low ball offer or two at him.

He does have a negative feedback and at least two neutrals. You can make up your own mind whether the negative is a red flag or not. I have no idea who the seller is. I just stumbled onto it while doing my normal search patterns.

That's the same roof rack. I sold my last one a few years ago for $250.

Heck, that's half of the Buy It Now price right there, and the original poster is in the same state (although it is a big state). Wink

IMHO based on past sales:
If you got one email - maybe, maybe not.
If you got 5+ emails instantly - yes.

It is not "special aircooled" or "special VW 411".

I guess it is an universal rack from 70th/ 80th. Bought it for 20 bucks in a thrift shop.

4 e-mails and 6 phone calls in that 8 hours. It crossed my mind right then that I didn't ask enough but I wasn't going to up the price, I just held firm on it.

This rack has 4" of taper front to rear for a perfect fit on a Type 3 squareback. I've never measured a Type 4 roof to know if they are the same? I shipped it to SoCal for $250.

I am now the official owner of that rack (and the car underneath it). I have taken it off the car and gave it one round of cleaning. It needs another. If someone wants this, let me know.

So, list it For Sale with a price in the Classifieds here. It will also fit a Type 3 squareback.

I am looking for a picture of an OEM accessory roof rack on a real car. See the below pictures for an illustrated version.

Does anyone have a picture they could post of the OEM roof rack accessory mounted on a real 412? I am hoping to have a reproduction version manufactured. A picture would really help. Dimensions would help even more so.

Looking for some input. How do I take this roof rack off to make the roof water tight? I think I may have a couple of rust holes however the roof rack is installed. I have Haynes manual but it doesn’t show how to remove it. The vinyl in the ceiling is in good condition so I don’t want to try to remove that if I don’t need to.
