|
|
So I sold everything back in 2006, went to college, changed jobs, moved, had kids, but recently I decided I wanted a bus. I found this, a standard walk through 63 in OK shape. Its not as rusty as it looks.
The tough part is I would like to keep the patina but I am undecided. The progress may take a while since I have a lot going on in life... But I enjoy everyone's threads so here is mine.
Parts I am looking for:
I need a dash!
The sheet metal around the engine (part of the bus).

Very nice and looks pretty complete. I just put a 63 walkthru back on the road. Keep the patina and just blend in the repair spots. |

Nice score! Where in the Bay Area are you? I'm in the South Bay.....I'm new to the air cooled world. Looks to be a really good start. Good luck! |

That thing is cherry compared to some scores. Keep all original stuff you can, in my opinion. |

you should throw out those garbage interior panels and buy some new ones. They actually match the ones in my bus, so just send them to me. I'll pay shipping |

The story is this bus was in a junk yard in North Dakota back in the 80's. My guess is it lost the dash area then. It must not have been in much of a VW area since so many parts are still there. But, I need a dash and the metal that goes on the side of the engine bay. |

What did they use a beaver and a hatchet! That's nasty.

what this bus needs is the right hand side of a RHD dash! now that would be a conversation starter _________________ regards

That is one really nice bus. I'd rock it the way it sits. It's got character. |
