Old City Oil Drippers' Dripfest 6 is on! Set your calendars for July 20. The show this year will be expanding to include all air-cooled cars and motorcycles (pre-1975). The show will be held at Hibernia County Park in Coatesville, just minutes from Rt. 30 and Rt. 82. Grounds will be grass with shade (around the perimeter), camping will be on the field in a designated area. I will be posting a link to download maps and driving directions. This year there will be a small admission fee for show cars ($5); the donation will be going to both the Chester County Food Bank and the Friends of Hibernia, who are co-sponsoring with D'Ambrosio Automall. Food will be available starting around 8A with breakfast fare (probably coffee and donuts for the set-up crew) and will be there all day. Showtime will be between 10 and 3. If it rains, the show will be moved to a paved lot nearby - so let's hope for a clear day!

Additional information:

Camping is available on site. Camping area is a group area with plenty of room for campers and/or tents. Fire pits are on site for cooking and campfires. Larger rigs (motor homes/trailers, for the adventurous) can be accommodated right on the show field. Other camping facilities are available for those who wish to spend a weekend in the woods; you will need to contact Hibernia Park directly to secure locations as they are on a first come - first served basis. Maps of the area will be posted shortly. There is a lake available for boating and fishing within walking distance of the show field.

Live bands will be performing all day and food will be provided by the Friends of Hibernia, a group dedicated to preserving the Park's heritage as an iron plantation. The Hibernia Mansion, a historic ironmaster estate, will be open for tours on Saturday.

More Dripfest info:

Here's an aerial map of the grounds showing our preliminary parking plan. Campers have the advantage of being under cover of trees for the most part; space available will accommodate quite a few vehicles (shown in purple). Overflow can park on the field itself, and fires are permitted (on the field) in a fire pit. No large bonfires however... Vendors we'll try to keep on the edge near the shade, everyone else is on the grass field. I will have more detailed maps of the outlying camping areas if anyone wants not to be part of the group camp area, however, you must contact the Park directly to reserve a spot. The outlying campgrounds are primitive (no hookups) with pit facilities. Entryway roads are rocky and rutted, so low riders are on their own. Watch those oil pans!

Group camping is both in the trees and in the field. Loop road campground is within a short (50 yds) distance to the show field. The lake campground is a little longer hike, maybe 150 yards. The lake campground is more suited to small campers and tents (pop-ups, teardrop trailers, etc). The loop road campground can accommodate slightly larger vehicles, but I would venture that a motor home of 24' would be the maximum or a truck/trailer combo of the same length.

And yes, you can portage a canoe to the lake via a short access road.

The above map is a little small. Anyone wanting a closer look please PM me your email and I'll send it directly. For campers; the Park will have Rangers on staff until 10PM Friday night for those wanting to go to other areas than the group section. Signs will be posted to direct appropriately, I will personally be at the gate from about 7P to 11P to help direct folks. If you are planning to camp, please be there before the gates close (it's a county park and required to lock the gates). The gate will have a combination lock for those camping, however, and the combination will be made available if someone needs to get in or out for whatever reason.

Calendar marked Cool
Can't wait to see the new spread. This was one of my favorites when you held it at Spring Mountain.

The new venue looks like a great place for a show

Applause It's going to be much better to drive on than Spring Mountains' rutted and rocky parking lot. And no body to tell us to keep moving the cars back to make room for his customers....

Lots of requests for bringing out water cooled VW's. The show is geared to the air cooled side, but we don't want to exclude anyone. If you have a waterpumper, we'll set up a place on the field for you, but you will not be eligible for being judged.

Bump for announcements: bring a non-perishable food item to donate to the Chester County Food Bank if you can! Also, we now need volunteers to help direct traffic; parking and registration. We'll have signs in place to get folks to the lot, but we'll need some guides!

Next bump for more announcements:

Camping still available even if you're not pre-registered. You'll just need to pay Friday night (representatives will be setting up the field and available until 10PM) or day of show. As a reminder, park gates will close at 10PM, so if you're camping, get there early. Day of show registration for show cars and bikes, and late campers, is $10.00

Had a nice meeting out at the park with some of the sponsors and to hammer out parking and show layout. We think all who attend will appreciate the field!

Not gonna make it this year, going to the beach that weekend. Shame because the new venue looks killer.

What, you're trading scratchy sand, screaming kids and crowded beaches for soft cool grass, nice cars and grilled food?

For those with significant others who will attend the show but tend to boredom, the 1800's ironmasters' mansion will be open for tours that day. Mostly restored, the mansion holds some unique antiques and a glimpse into life in the past century.

Fishing trip...I avoid beaches with people. Worse than car shows in hot parking lots IMO. Hope the show goes well guys.

There is some wood scattered through the lots, but it might be worth bringing some just in case. The camping sites tend to be picked fairly clean as the season progresses.

We're keeping a close eye on the weather. With the threat of severe storms, we will make the decision Friday on whether to move the show to a parking lot on the grounds (if it's just rain) or to cancel altogether in the event of severe weather. Keep fingers and toes crossed for any storms to be late in the day!
