Most of usa cars were made from a kit. There were cars factory made and sold in Canada that have found their way into the usa.
Is there any way, i.e. maybe the serial number, to tell if a puma is made factory or constructed from a kit? |

I've wondered about that as well. To add to the mix you are also seeing cars being shipped in from Brazil now. I am not sure how they did VINs in Brasil but I know mine starts out correctly for a Brazilian made vehicle but the numbers don't pull up in the system and it has always be registered as a 1987 Volk GTC. |

I have not found a answer, but Just bought a 1984 gtc and the title says puma, not like many that are made on an old v.w. frame using the old v.w. title and registered that way. |

One point to keep in mind. While Pumas sold in the US were sold as kits. The term kit was used very loosely, and it was advertised by some as being able to be assembled in less than 16 hours. For the most part the Kit consisted of three pallets. First one with the body assembled, the second with a front beam, and the third with the transaxle and motor. I believe one of the importers advertised it minus the engine at one point. |

The body came mounted on the pan from Brazil. As far as I can remember. _________________ 1973 standard, yellow, lowered, 3” narrowed front, 1600 blo-thru turbo w/single dell 15.4@86, so far
