Damn! 145 pages? I know there are more broader sagas here on TS that have more. But this has got to be the highest single car thread with as many hits in the T3 space let alone most the other spaces.

Wow. Im mean just, wow. Laughing

Well, they do drive it. They bought it, and kind of knew it needed some work/repairs. Living in an apartment is a lot different than having your own garage, or house, both for working on it, and just parking it. At least they're out driving it daily, or almost daily. Most of their repairs are done on the street, including an engine install. I give them major props for ALL that they've done to keep that car running as good as they have. I mean it's been to the left coast, and you've even given them some stuff for it while they were out there. Cool

And it stayed on the topic the whole time! Shocked

Unlike my (significantly smaller Laughing ) thread which switches from raising pigs to French grammar to...? Rolling Eyes

You’re a brave man! I keep wanting to go back through it to catalogue topics and pages, but 146 pages is a daunting number!

There might be more misadventuring to report soon. This SB is currently visiting Uncle Tram for a little R&R while we’re occupied with a bus and other things. Stay tuned...

Yeah, they want me to rewire it, re-route the speedo cable, and repaint it smoke grey.

So when are you and Xatie giving up the pregnant rollerskate for a real Volkswagen? Smile You know, fuel injection... automatic... aircon... real heat... able to do 65-70 uphill. That sort of shit.

That's so CA and such a part of more than my life!! I'm not sure Cal's ads made it to Tram out in the sticks of OR.

My wife is from Anaheim and remembers Cal very well. I was in NYC and then briefly in NJ until 1969, then in Ohio till 1991. We did have this guy:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O8291wEriQc

Radio spot:
http://www.oshannonland.com/01-charlie-c-miller/

I first encountered Dave Campo broadcasting out of Twin Falls when I was in Sun Valley ID in the '90s, doing ads for "The Giant" Latham Motors in TF.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=onMXzujXiDQ

This guy did car commercials for dealerships all over the USA from a studio in California. They used video sent in from the dealer and Dave did his spiel in front of the video.

I don't really remember any crazy commercials from the East Coast but I was just a kid.

Ha! Xatie’s first car in 1988 was a 72 SB. So that itch has been scratched. She’s the reason I have a VWs. I would’ve just been happy with a Nissan Sentra doing nothing but oil changes for 200,000 miles and little else plus all the creature comforts mentioned above Wink
But here I am sucked into the puzzle of air cooled cars with two buses and a bug Shocked I have no business owning one of these cars but I love it. Big thanks to you all holding my hand, meet ups, encouragement, campouts, and beer drinking. Lots of respect for D/A/N and neena working on ACVWs on the streets of Brooklyn.

No, but how about this: you’ve already had the car for 16 months and haven’t touched it other than to drive it. Let’s say it doesn’t take another 16 months AND you actually use your fancy new technology to post before, after, and progress pictures here. We don’t want any more surprises and you probably don’t want us posting “WTF were you thinking” stuff like with the bus.

With pics, all bases are covered and all work shown and explained. People get to see how clever you are and we’ll know what we’re getting before we get it.

Whaddya say, boss? We want to see the sausage being made this time...

No problem Boss, as you know, the customer is always right (but then every rule has exceptions, including this one). I'll just keep track of the added documentation time and add it to the labor portion of the bill. You just let me know how much pork you want in that sausage.

Confused about one thing, though... who's the liar that said I am a genius? Confused That's almost an insult. Anybody who thinks that is a maroon.

How long does it take to take pictures and upload them? You could do this 15 times and maybe get yourself 1 whole hour of labor.

Most builders and mechanics on here like the free advertising they get from pics of great work they did.

Do you have a documentation fee?

I don’t think he actually charges a specific fee for documentation, but if you met Tram, you’d see why anything “digital” would seem challenging......I think he got his first cellphone a month ago while the rest of us are 20 years deep. Maybe that’s a virtue, maybe not.

And here’s another maybe: this could be for Tram’s feedback thread, but If you want to see some carnage, you can look at page 32 of the bus thread in my signature line. By the time we get done fixing the shit in our bus, Tram is going to owe us 5 Type 3’s.
