All were minted between 1961 to 1974.... understandable since it was parked and forgotten in 1979!
My 13 year old son just acquired this '62 from the original owner.
Seats are still comfy!

Everything except right rear window is original. Right down to a couple of tires. Three still hold air!

This '62 was last registered in 1984 and spent the last 30 years in a garage. Prior to that it was t-boned by a cop in Westwood, hammered out and acquired more "character" while exposed to the elements outside.
The original owner (now in his 90's) told us he parked it in '82 because it sometimes would not start if it were hot.
My son does not enjoy patina or crinkled body panels, so we will be cutting, welding and sanding the rear quarter. The pan is absolutely flawless and we have no intention to refurb or paint it.
Three brakes were seized, one set of pads so badly fused to the drum that we had to cut the drum face/flange from the cylinder section just to roll it. No fun at all. Luckily the remaining two brakes gave up without much of a fight. |
