Here's pics of a 51 I found whilst purchasing another VW. It has the papers and stamped numbers, unfortunately the vin plate was damaged when an eberspacher heater was fitted.. A lot of the damage is from sections that were cut to save another 51. It has the engine lid, although mangled. I jumped in and bought it to save it being chopped up further.
Hey, at least if I find the time/money/space to restore it I won't have to look for a bumper |

Awesome! Good on you. Do I see an order for some funky green in your future? _________________ BarryL wrote:

Swedish spec i would bet. Nice project, at least what you have left looks reasonably solid. _________________ Austrian Kohlruss Deluxe

aside from the rear bumper being on the front, it really doesn't look too bad. maybe flush the gas tank and throw some new plugs in it and see if it'll crank? _________________ Extravagant Lifestyle

Thanks for the comments. I guess compared to the German one for 6000 Euros it looks like a good deal |

VIN number is 20-0197XX, engine was 20-03747XX so I guess Dec '51.
The forward cargo door and engine lid were also included. |

I'm sure progress will eventually be posted on this bus, whether it is by me or not, although I will post up pics of the long trip to bring it home in the coming weeks. I guess the chassis held together well enough to be transported to it's current location. |

Nice find. '51s aren't easy to find in your neck of the woods from what I understand. Now just find a front half somewhere and you're sure to ace the MOT. _________________ Check my classifieds for kewl gauges:
