Just wondering if my seatbelt receivers are stock..
the reason i ask is because of these two wires coming out of both receivers..
there is nowhere for the wires to plug in and also no spare indicator light anywhere on the dash to say the belts are no fastened. |

Yea...agreed. The two wire connections are stock. But that seat belt receiver...I have never seen. It does not mean that it may not be a a special factory set-up. Ray |

Hmmmm weird...there's me thinking the wires where not stock.
So where to they plug in?
and where is the light on the dash?
and shouldn't there be some kind of sensor in the seats as part of the system?
Gotta love these little VW conundrums |

hey,,3nero,, first if you have the 411-or the 412,, the dash light is différent,,you can go to se my pict..in the 412 gallery ,,on the samba,,the pict,11,, for my 412-73,, what year your car,, |
i taught i had it in my signature....where did my signature go
Anyway mine is a 1974 412ls, i checked your pics and i don't have that fancy "fasten seat belts" light
but then again our seatbelts laws only really got strict in the mid to late 80's so it would probably only have annoyed most drivers back then. Maybe thats why i don't have it or the wires for it.
Guess i'll just have to live with the homeless wires |

7 or 8 is way better that 1 in my country
Only one 412 left here and one 411
the 411 belongs to a friend but has been of the road for many years now. We're fighting a losing battle to keep them alive. _________________ 1974 RHD 412LS Daily driver

Just checked my manual and it shows the exact same pic you put up. of a left hand drive car
No pic in it anywhere of the right hand dash, which is typical of all foreign made cars in this country. _________________ 1974 RHD 412LS Daily driver

Those look like they are from the 80's stylistically (my education is in industrial design). I've never seen a type that operated like that- looks like something for racing or maybe universal fitment? _________________ '74 412 wagon

I had that type of seat belt recievers factory fitted in my 1974 Super Beetle. However there was no wire connection on them but besides that they look identical (from memory).

I have those exact recievers in my 1976 Saab 99. They are made by Klippan and were very common here in Finland still in the early 80's. I have those similar angle irons where the receivers are attached in my 1972 VW 411 as well. Maybe those receivers taken from another car. I have installed some 80's Saab receivers into my 411 and they had those wires too. The idiot light for the seat belt was not installed in the type 4 cars that were imported to finland. I'm not sure how it was in other markets in the Europe. _________________ My cars: 1972 VW 411 Variant; 1973 VW 412 4d sedan |
