My '70. My last one came from the East Coast and died of rust, so this time around I found one in central California. No rust & original pans. It had been a high school auto shop project for a kid in 1989 or 1990, I think. The look--paint, wheels, dropped, some of the chrome stripped--were all his choices, and I like them a lot. I built a bigger engine and have had fun fixing 1,281,919 small things. Have owned it four years. I think it's now kinda, unbelievably, where I want it.

New Ghia owner here. My first two auto's were a 1962 Beetle and 1966 Type 3 Notchback. This is my first return to the land of VW's in nearly 50 years. This was pretty much an impulse purchase. I went to an auction looking at a 1956 Continental and spotted this. 1974.

Were off! Im gonna make it roadworthy (the 36hp runs sweet) and do all rubber and interior. And roll it. This belonged to the late Steve Tims from Performance Workshop in Riverside, before Steve it belonged to the oldskool drag bug dude from Temecula (cant think of his name at the moment). Seems all orig, red/ivory vinyl/brown weave uphol. Complete minus pass seat and horn button, very little rust (ft fender bottoms and minimal holes in the RF floor (GAB-FAB fender patches fit NICE)
What are your plans? |

Long time listener, first time caller...
I purchased this '72 Ghia a little over a year ago. Spent its entire lifetime in the San Francisco Bay Area - in fact, it was purchased from Norm Anderson VW in San Jose, not far from where I grew up.
She definitely has her flaws - nose was dented under the PO, currently needs a new window regulator, and I've had to replace a bunch of aftermarket crap - but I'm looking forward to making her a great daily driver.

Hi, newbie to the forum but figured I should join/contribute as I do with my other vehicles. I haven't owned a VW in several decades and always been a Bug in various years and flavors. The Ghia was not my first choice but I find them unique and this one seemed to be decent for the price. My goal is to use the car as a driver with no plans for a full blown restoration to stock.

I haven’t seen a Landau top on a Ghia before.
