M-Code list says "Westfalia interior - details?" Seen on various Deluxe models.

Build date 6 6 66 (woo... creepy) --> Devil's Deluxe

Classified ad words read:
"Original Westfalia roof rack and side step."

Can see the (gutter mount) ladder on the floor behind the driver's seat too.

Did a site search... saw C98 on a Kombi and a Deluxe (but no evidence of C98 coded items)... maybe because C98 items were easy to pitch in the trash or toss behind the garage.

Looks like a tourist program buyer wanted to check all the boxes on the most expensive passenger bus he could order. Some Westy accessories were available ala' carte- so why not? I'd do the same today to get as much stuff on that great deal as possible. That bus is amazing.

My old Bus. I thought about that one here and there, it is a nice one.

Here is the Bus in '99, just before selling it, polishing it in my friends barn.

When we moved to Oregon, here is the Bus towing our Beetle. The Bus was half lowered when I bought it, was in the process of going back stock.

Had original material on seats when I sold it, just needed some stitching repaired.

schweet, been working to find out what C98 meant but missed this thread! its the only code on my m-plate that still has me confused. wish my bus came with more clues to help out (no side step/ side tent/ or rack when I picked it up)

"C98 Westfalia interior - details? Seen on Tourist Delivery '66 Deluxe with rack, ladder, and side step"

guessing this is where those details came from...
