I've run into a few microcar owners in the other forums and am interested in seeing more of your projects, this being the off topic forum I thought it'd be the place to start a thread. Or if you don't own an actual microcar: your model kits, rare parts, collectibles, photos or anything of interest, even post your favorite microcar, by microcar I mean Isetta, Messerschmitt, Fiat 500, Mini, Peel P50 etc.

...so THAT'S what those Bantams look like stock... I've only ever seen them as a pure drag racing car, set up for the Altered classes, like the Fiat Topolinos..
Always thought they looked dead sexy with a blown, injected 392 or 426 hemi in 'em...

You should see the grilling you have to take before you can join the Club. They want to make darned sure you're not a hotrodder looking to destroy a car before you get anywhere with the club.

Anyway, Speedway is making a fiberglass body that's a better alternative if you want to rod one. That said, if you do rod one let me know, I need a ton of parts Very Happy

My stepson has a 1959 DAF. He bought two and built one decent car from both of them. It’s a 2 cylinder horizontally opposed air cooled engine (it’s like half a VW motor...), with a vari-o-matic belt-driven automatic transmission. Engine is in the front. he just finished the body work painted it blue, should be running soon.

I'd love to have a Peel P50 some day, especially after watching that one Top Gear episode Laughing . But alas, there is no use for it where I live.

Haha, same here. There's this weird place nearby that's lilke it's own little miniature Victorian town, it has shops and a farmer's market and everything. People live over their shops, there's all sorts of businesses there. It's kinda creepy Shocked , but I could see myself using one there. I wouldn't mind an Isetta, my step-grandfather (who also owned a '49 Split) had one when he was stationed in Germany. He said he and as many friends would fit in the thing would go out places, flying down the Autobahn as fast as the little thing could go. lol random story.

I just got this email:

Quote:
The San Diego Automotive Museum will be presenting “Economy of Motion; Small and Efficient Cars – Past and Future,” this coming Feb. 2010 and running to May of 2010. We are looking for owners of Microcars that would be interested in showing their car during this period. If San Diego is too distant for you, maybe you know of a Microcar owner in the Southern California region that would be interested in our exhibition.

If you have a Micro in the San Diego Area, this might be your chance for fame and fortune. Contact them if you have a Micro you would like to display.

If you don't it's probably still worth a visit when the exhibit is up and running.

The San Diego Automotive Museum is pretty cool. Last time I was there (about 4 years ago now) they had several of the vehicles open for the museum patrons to get into and try on for size.

I recognize the Piaggio Apes (which were manufactured by the company that also makes Vespa motor-scooters) and the yellow-and-white Fiat 600 Multipla in the background of that picture, but I am not at all sure what the tiny, egg-shaped red roadster is, and my guess about the vans and Coca-Cola truck is Goggomobil light-commercials, since they look almost nothing like a DKW 3=6 van and are the polar opposite of the rotund Lloyd LT600 as far as the shape goes.

I was thinking that myself. I would put up a picture of my Lloyd Alexander TS, which is smaller than a VW Bug but larger than a Mini, if my digital camera hadn't been stolen and it wasn't so ugly it could turn you to stone just seeing a picture. Wink (It's been in the same place for nearly 30 years.)
