what is the exact size of the input and output openings for oil lines of a bypass filter and the vintage style full flow filter (like the one in denzels)?

i do have a vintage filter that i want to use but don't know if it's for full flow or bypass. don't know what fittings to buy.

some pics of the filter.

Why not measure the in- and outlets of your filter by yourself? If you have all sizes (and a detail picture of the srewsize I possibly can help.

I also need to know if its a metric thread of the screw or what kind of thread.

Kind Regards

Thomas

I found the manual of my filter. It says it has a 1/8" NPT inlet and outlet hole.
It also has a .06 restriction orifice. So i think this is for bypass apllication. So is it the same fittings as of the fram?

OK, I would love it if someone can give the link to purchase the exact size insert cartridge that goes inside the Fram F3P filter? (Yeah, it's blue).
Thanks!

The Fram replacement filter is long discontinued but when I replaced mine the parts supplier did a cross reference and supplied me with the Mann equivalent. The Mann equivalent is part number: PF915n if your local Car Parts store doesn’t stock it they can cross-reference and get you another equivalent.

Thanks John -
It also turns out that the Hastings LF130 would also be an equivalent filter.

I have the same question. I've been recommended to go to my local hydraulic hose supplier and get them made up - if I do that I still need to know the hose diameter I need please. Are the inlet and outlet hoses actually different bores, or is there just a restriction at one end to control the flow? If I'm using a bypass filter and Okrasa style cooler is htere anything else I need to take into consideration please? Does anyone have a source for og style braided hoses?

Cheers,

Dave

Yes. You must add the extra oil if you want it at your usual dipstick mark. If I remeber well it's 250 cc more (about 1/4 quart more, converting liters to quarts ?).
Just put the normal 2.5 liters there, start the engine for one or two minutes. Stop it and verify where is the oil in the dipstick. Add more oil to get the normal level . For me, normal, is just half distance between the 2 marks.
Hope this helps.

Full is to the top line on the dipstick,if you're half way you're always running your engine a half quart low

Ask and you shall receive! I have the correct 6mm diameter GERMAN oil line back in stock. See this link: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=1077906

Yes, that's what I do. Just half between the two marks.
Another thing is that you must have a restrictor in the oil bypass filter Inlet.
With it (restrictor) beeing 1 mm / 1.5 mm, my engine has about 7 psi hot idle with 10w30 oil.

Not sure but probably 3 liters. When just changing the oil it takes about 2.3 liters, because some of the oil, obviously, remains in the filter can and also in the lines.
I prefer a low/midle level than full. When full, sometimes when at high way speeds, I have a small portion of oil leaking from behind the crank pulley.
