Never posted this one in here..
It was around 3 a.m, when my son woke up for a bottle. I got up and made his bottle and grabbed my telephone to browse local craigslist while feeding him. Typed in VW and found this full length HWE rack that was posted around 2 a.m.
Sent the guy a text message right away. He responded around 8 and said come pick it up. I obliged him. |

Also found my bus on craigslist..
The guy had a VW bus steering wheel listed for sale, I sent an email asking if he had the rest of the bus.. He said yes, but that it was rolled over and he was going to scrap it. I asked for a few pictures and these were the first I saw of my bus.
Nothing special, a mid 60's panel converted camper, but I was thrilled. Bought it and had it delivered for less than $300 on Valentines day
Still a work in progress, but it's getting there.

scored this ugly tandem bike off craigslist yesterday. Looks like a random assortment of parts put together, but rides smooth and operates as it should..
She wanted $50, but I talked her down to $42 and she delivered it. It wouldn't fit in my craigslist Geo Metro.

1) An almost new ikea kids bunk bedroom set for $300 that a fella wanted out of the house before his wife, who was divorcing him, took it and sold it.
2) A Cyclops bike trainer, in new condition, for $10--a $100+ value.
3) My bike
4) A 1974 weekender bus...currently in the stable. It was garaged, in very good shape, ran well, came with a very nice OG tent, roof rack, hitch...all for $3400. The PO responded to my add "Desperate Dad Seeks VW Camper for Family Camping." The woman went on line to sell a dresser, happened on my add, and called to say they were thinking about selling. When I asked about a price she said they looked at Ebay and took what they thought were the high and lows and shot for the middle. They wanted $3600. I said I'd take it, no haggling. Then of their own volition they said that after speaking with me and getting to know me and my daughter a bit and knowing I was borrowing to get the bus, they knocked it doen to $3400 just as I was handing them the $3600...so nice! _________________ "You're either on the bus, or you're off the bus." ~kk

I picked this up off of Craigslist today. It's never even been plugged in. It came with a cylinder of gas of some mixture that he's not sure of, but it was filled at a shop "for use with this welder". I priced everything out and I got it for slightly less than half price. Not a screamin' deal, but close enough.
It's the Pro Mig 140 model
Oh ya, I have NO friggin' idea how to weld. Good thing it came with a book. LOL |

It should be 75%/25% Argon -CO2 mix for mig welding. _________________ OGJHC

I'm starting to get little wafts of bus stink coming from the north. Something about the unique scent of drivers seat padding when it's glued together with mouse piss and shit that really gets me going... and I'm smelling it! Oh yeah! Time to start loading up the equipment. |

Thats preference for each person welding and also dictated by the conditions and type of welding being done. Some like straight CO2 etc. I prefer 75%/25% mix for sheetmetal, light steel in non-windy conditions. _________________ Formerly known in the forums as "OVALTEEN"

Last week got a Hobart 140 mig with cart, auto dark helmet, wire and gloves for $300. It was like new. Sold it for $450.
Yesterday I bought a Hobart tigmate, brand spanking new for $600. Totally stoked about that. _________________ Josh The Bus Guy formerly known as JOGR

I have scored dozens of VW's thanks to Craig's List! My most recent being a Type 3 fastback for $300. It is missing an engine but totally complete and in solid condition! Also have a 1977 Westy that was in a garage for 25 years that someone contacted me about buying from a post I placed and a 1965 Beetle from the same ad....also in a garage for 20 + years! You must act fast when a "deal" hits or you will miss out on a lot of opportunities! I currently have 13 VW's of various years and condition. |
