that handle is the actuator that controls the rear thrusters. the raised portion on the right of the dash is where the flux capacitor is mounted ... _________________ 64 kombi

Is it possible your bus used to be a radar car? I can just make out the mounting plate in place of the clock mounting position as seen on radar buses. No idea what the handle would have been for though. Although you have a deluxe dash my guess is that your bus isn't a deluxe? _________________

I just talked to my friend Bengt who knows pretty much everything about barndoors that is worth knowing. The van must be a barndoor taxi. They came with the deluxe dash and the handle is for controling an extra foot step under the loading doors. Pull the handle and the foot step slides out so that the passengers get a nice step in to the van.

I think Nize has the correct answer, cause the bus has sliding glass divider, rear hatch and the first paint is dark blue, as many taxis was back in the fifties.. Maybe the pod was used for the Taxameter..
Thanks for your help! |

A few years ago I spotted a hand brake accessorie that I`ve never seen again. It was chome and clamped onto the brake lever had a T handle that came back to the seat. The way it worked was you picked up on the T handle and pulled it back and then let go. That way you didn`t have to reach as fare to pull the E-brake. Should have bought it. |
