It wasn't all that hard. It was just time consuming. Lots of investigating on steering geometry, component sizes (needed to keep to a maximum width),how to integrate with current car structure or cage, and prices. Then draw up plans, cut existing suspension off, buy the pieces, build a jig, start cutting, bending, and welding. I was only involve in the fab part, Nick did all the prep. This was also not our first go at an a-arm set up on this car either. That one was pretty ugly. Some parts were reused and we already had all the tools (bender, notcher, welder, plasma cutter, etc.) so that helped keep the cost down. Although I don't know the actual figure he still has quite a bit invested.

Well here is a few more photos... It fits me well. I like the stance of it . It came out to 13'' of travel. 4 to 5'' of drop with out me in it. and gas tank empty. I used 250 springs. We will see how they feel. I cant drive it yet. I need to put in hanging pedals . My aftermarket set takes up too much room where the a arm is. will sell it cheep.
less the clutch slave and gas pedal.. but the pedals and reservoirs will go cheep. about 1 year old or 2k miles

Ok I finally have the buggy back.. I have has lots of things to repair due to changes . My alt went bad for unknown reasons . I did charge up my bad battery and take it for a spin today. It is sooooo nice. I feel like it is flying and not bouncing .. The steering is tight and responsive. I never used Rack& p before but is is nice. I did not hit the dirt too hard but the faster I went the better it was... It felt like I was rolling over the bump , smooth.. I do have a on board video cam but forgot to bring my SD card to record on... When i get back form the weekend of playing with the kids in the river. I will remove the engine to replace the almost new alt that went bad. and get some video out..

here is the fender height
hanging pedals. they were ment to be the other way but we just reversed the MC and bent the pedals.
It has around 4 to 5 '' drop and a total of 12+ travel. I am not sure on total. It is more than 12''

| I really like this rig because it looks very trail capable. "Which is what I'm looking for". So many are being built for sand and that's it. |

Thank you, I started to build for the sand / street. keeping it light and powerful. It seams I go in the rough stuff more so I changed it for that and everything else... I believe it will go anywhere or die trying...
The front end really changed things. It feels like a different car.
one cool think now is I don't have to use the ramps to unload the buggy anymore.

call and ask. I think they have a basic package like 1300$ or something like that. then you can go buy what you wish as far as quality and price to complete it.... That is a great deal.. I believe the SSSS was a big hit for the new a arm kits. I will totally buy another one for my next buggy. It is like a turbo once you try it you never go back.

Just got off the phone with Pete he is sending me a quote. He said he will be finishing up a bug build with this setup and posting it on his website in about 2 weeks.
Looks like this is the way to go for me. I will be waiting for the pictures of his latest build though. |

Yes, I got the other day looks great. Few issues to deal with before I go back out into the garage. Its raining, its cold, and I am sick. Other than that life is good. The kit looks good and solid.

Good times ahead. Have you done the rear yet? I wish i woul have gone 3x5 for the rear. to keep up with the front end. 3x3's work, My front end is tuned down not to be looking too high.. funny thing is I reduced the travel in the front end to keep it looking level with the rear. and it still works awesome. It just takes on the whoops and keeps going.
I was at Glamis 2 weeks ago. One of my friends went riping down the drags with all the whoops. I hit it and was going as fast or faster 60 mph easy in the whoops. He has a 45k buggy. long travel. I love the a-arm kit it just works great. My buddy who has the 45k buggy drove it and was floored at the ability it had to go in the rough, He said it felt like a cadi.

Been a while but nothing ever seems to move as fast as you want. These kits are now back on the market and available through Dan's Performance Parts.
From the feedback we have had and the happy customers Pete has made with the new production schedule etc hopefully his design will live on and more smiles will be out there.

I have the older version that has an integrated bumper
It was a square sub-assembly that mounts where the beam was an attaches to the lift kit
My top tubes weren't attached to the tub when I got it
I attached them later

Well as off this week we have the A-Arm setups back in full production and have solved the last element which h was the steering rack but working out a way to get the shaft shortened without having to cut and weld.
Clint has been hard at it laying down some awesome dimes and they are looking pretty
