why would you go to the trouble of replacing the ends with 36hp size openings? https://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=2635178

despite claims of NOS, one would expect it to not have marks where the screws left indents when mounted to the generator? https://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=2645926

This makes me think it's the old unit put back into the new one's box.

NOS one was installed on some car years ago...

Beware: Not for VW. These are too small for any VW bumper. Look at the profile showing the shape of the bumper they fit.

The seller says "I think it's matching numbers", so it's likely not. Crotch coolers on a zwitter, NOT. At least the comment that they don't think it's the original engine is helpful to prospective buyer. Are those tail lights too high? Why an older rear bumper and correct front? Not the correct wipers.. or motor? It's no bargain price...

^ yes, very sketchy blurb from an ex vw employee (28 years) who has owned the car for 55 years...you would expect him to know everything about that car and have the birth cert.
his ad for a 71 westfalla (sic) doesn't inspire confidence either

Beware: These are NOT correct for any split or oval, and they will NOT fit!

Those quarters are for 59-60 only. The part of these quarter panels that connects to the panel above your knees is different so it won't line up.

This doesn't look KDF to me
https://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=2657112

VW symbol
KDF has larger knobs, correct?
Later wiring
I think that's a "P" key, which is also later...

This manifold could actually be the real deal. If so, quite rare. I have the exact same manifold, a VW part that was supplied on a 1954 industrial engine.

Is this bracket usually gold?

It doesn't look repainted to me

Hahaha, I understand now.

The price is insane, an NOS bumper should be included. Smile

Ay carumba! I don't usually criticize people's asking prices but this one is over the top :

$625 for a metal mounting bracket is big bucks... even if it's NOS and a rare.

On the convertible, I’m sure it’s a miss print on the mfg date. Is there something else strange I’m missing ?

so if the manufacturing year is an error did it take from february to august to make a cabrio? if you've paid for this info and it has this obvious an error wouldn't you ask for a correct one? I would.

These certificates regularly contain mistakes, as they are put together by humans - a subject that's been covered on Samba before. They've previously sent me a correct version when a mistake has been pointed out.

And yes, 6 months does sound a long time, but I've had something similar with a very early Mk1 Golf Cabrio. Who knows what went on at the time?
