I've used Furniture Polish/Wax before, it's nasty but works for a while. I've seen people use Orange Oil and Linseen Oil, too.
Good luck! _________________ Please check us out on Instagram at @holygrailgarage

Go on to the SSVC forum, www.chocksaway.com. A few of the guys on there sell Ankor wax, I`m sure they`d be able to send some out to the U.S for you. It`s good stuff! |

Ankor wax dries relatively clear, although it will be sticky for a few weeks after application. All my friends use it with great results, all surface rust treated with this stuff doesn't get any worse. One guy has been using it for over 4 years now. You will need to apply it 2-3 times a year for best results, and is not really good on shiny buses as it will pick up dust etc.

A house painting business I used to work for was implicated in the burning of a 2 million dollar house with the implied cause being the spontaneous combustion of a pile of lindseed oil soaked rags. Luckily for the company, there was no way to prove that it was the cause. _________________ Wanted: flipseat parts: rear jump seat, folding chair, cups |

a painting company here in philadelphia burnt down the top 5 floors of a medium rise office building. the building needed to be demolished. now jon bon-jovi is building a boutique hotel on the lot where the building once stood. be sure to read the directions for proper disposal of lindseed soaked rags. _________________ Extravagant Lifestyle

But if you get up real close to the Jurassic Barndoor with the Linseed oil treatment, it smells like salad dressing! _________________ Founder and Chairman Emeritus, ECMSAS

I owned a Painting & Building Business here in Southern California for nearly 30 years and have restored many places all over from Hawaii to Texas. One of my guys nearly burned a building down in Burbank back in 1989 due to throwing stain rags into a plastic bucket after staining the cabinets. I personally use rags and then lay them out for a few days opened to let them dry entirely. I then proceed to discard them without any problems. _________________ 1969 Australian RHD Notch |

Sorry for the older thread, but what exactly does the linseed oil treatment do?
Just soak the metal in oil making it resistant to further corrosion?
How long does a treatment last?
Does the paint look oily and wet after treatment, or does it dry at some point?
What would effect be of a linseed oil treatment on relatively shiny paint?
Any pics of a linseed-oiled bus post-treatment? _________________ Jack

You need 3 things for rust, metal, air and water,I would just think oil or a wax stops water or air getting to the metal. Thats all these fancy paints like por15 due if you the air and water can get to it it cant rust. |
