Hi as part of getting my 72 super road worthy, I need to fix the Horn, it seems as some of the mounting brackets have been broken, also it was being held up with electric tape when I bought it. Is there anyway to test the system to make sure everything is working before I get a new Horn switch?

Was just sitting here messing with it and got it to work, if someone can point me in the right direction for new mounting brackets then I would be very thankful.

I'm not sure which part you are referring to. WW shows the horn button (#12 in this diagram), but I don't think individual parts are available .

You could contact Avery's Air Cooled to see if they have a used one they could cannibalize, but any parts coming off of a used one are going to be 50-ish years old as well so don't know how long you could expect it to hold up.

Try googling "VW horn button clips". I found these:

https://www.westcoastmetric.com/i-22967565-clips-h...73-74.html

There are a number of other sources that show them. Fit and quality may (will) vary. West Coast Metric has been one of the better suppliers for good quality parts that actually fit and function as they should. For me, that makes the higher price they charge worth it.

BTW ... it looks like VW redesigned these clips starting with the '74 model year. Just something to be aware of ... new style clips may work with the old horn button ... or they may not.
