I think you're phrasing things wrong here. I think you want 18" of travel, which is quite a bit different than 18" of lift. 18" of travel will be impossible with a ball joint front end which is what your 70 has. You'll need to convert your pan to a link pin setup to get that much travel. |

I think you would need some very long training arms to get those numbers. The best i have heard of is 14-15 and that is pushing hard.

get a old chevy and jack it up. baja's and rails are ment to perform useable vehicles that do well in lots of situations. putting that much lift on a baja will limit what you can do alot! unless you dont want fenders, or any power, or be able to climb anything, or jump, or handle well, or just about anything a baja is ment to do. me bet would be just get the biggest tire you can fit. turn the beam. lift spindles. and maybee you willl get 18" of clearence |

What are you talking about? I have fenders, I have plenty of power(even when I had 1600sp), I dont jump it much, because I drive mine daily. 18 inches of clearance is possible. Baja5 is right on the money, cut and turn the beam and add lift spindles and call it a day. _________________ www.lowlifeaz.com

Hey Tuff, don't be a hater... I agree with you that it's all about function, but not everyone's got $10K to drop. And remember, even the worst poser is still rolling German.
Rddj, bad news- my '69 rig is currently cut/turned to the limit of the BJs (farther than you should), and has Thing spindles.
I just measured it at only 17.5".

vwclass 11, your right . 18"is possable anything is possable. but for what he is talking about he will need atleast 3" spindles, cut and turn the beam (to the max) and BIG tires, for something you can drive on the streets every day this is hard to do. he will probably need longer trailing arms also. sorry if i came off sounding rude didnt meen to. its just a hard task to overcome |

I think 16" is a very reasonable goal...
Like I said, my beam was turned too much, so the Bjs are hard against their seats, which is bad. Back that off a little, add $200 in Thing spindles, there you are. And my clearance is with only 235/75/r15 tires, which clear ok.
Oh, yeah- stock rear arms, even at max lift, are still a couple inches lower than that front.
(this conversation comes up about once a month, to the smallest detail. No wonder Brad's grumpy! Maybe we should make the Stickies like a EULA that you *have* to read first?) _________________ Insanity: /ɪnˈsænɪti/ -noun: repeatedly voting for the same party and expecting different results.
