Not to sort-of hijack this thread, but I was reading the Haynes the other night looking up brake info (I collected almost every service manual on the bus, and I always read all of them before I do a project), and they talked about REAR drum brakes being self-adjusting. Are they on crack, or worse?
Being the Search Nazi I am, I scrounged the forums in regards to this topic, finding one thread about a dude wanting to put rear self-adjusting brakes from a Vanagon on his 77 bus... but is Haynes wrong on this one?
BTW, I am in the process of highlighting the Muir manual in parts that pertain to my 78 bus. If anybody considers using the Idiot Guide for anything, this makes things A LOT easier to find!

Just another cut and paste errors in those Haynes manuals. They all read the same.

Lets see now, I've got four manuals.
1. Muir's Idiot book, 6th edition I think (1976) Ring bound type
2. Muir's Idiot book, 14th edition Perfect bound
3. Bentley's
4. Clyman's Service Manual (this one is the oldest of the lot, 1971)

The ring bound and bentley's I got off ebay and the other Muir book and Clymer's came with the bus, together with some really faded pixes of a family sitting around the tent and the bus.

Its interesting comparing the two Muir books with each other.
