as long as you prepped it and painted it well you should have no problem... i rattlecanned the decklid on my beetle 6 years ago... i have NEVER waxed it and it has not been washed in about 5 years (someone smashed the front end so it just sits, which is actually worse for the paint i think... especially in the FL sun) there are still NO signs of rust, and i am sure if i washed and waxed it, it would shine.

Agreed- the key to painting, no matter how it is done, is preparation. "The will to excel means nothing without the will to prepare"... Woah, that was deep for this early in the morning... more coffee please....
