That decal was a period accessory - a poor mans tachometer. The line showed what speed range was used for each gear. The numbers represent the rpm in that gear. The triangle was the max suggested speed for that gear, and the circle was the suggested shift point. I have seen a few of these advertised in old (60's) magazines. They will wipe right off if you are not careful and to the best of my knowledge no one makes them today.
here is an interesting picture of somthing similar

I have a speedometer that has that overlay (or similar one) also. Most of it is missing. |

My Mom had a '67 Fasty that she bought used in '69 and it had a mph overlay on the KM speedo. I wish she kept that car to give to me now? _________________ Schrodinger's cat walked into a bar and it didn't.

That's ugly...but still cool. It'd be kind of interesting to know what RPM I was going in what gears, but I guess that's what a tachometer is for. _________________ (O\U|U/O) Top Vw (o\UU/o) |

I have one from a '70 camper that was bought in Germany on the " buy it here, tour Europe & ship it home" deal, it pealed right off the speedo glass. _________________ Tom
