If you are converting from fuel injection, I'm interested in your ENTIRE injection system. PM me please! _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.

well i'd be more than happy to keep my f.i. but my engine is running pretty richly, and as i understand it there could be 43,324,596 things wrong with it, is there a check list to refer to? also does anyone know of a good place to get a longblock from in the san diego area? |

if you decide to go with carbs these are the best way to go. i have them and love them. i have found out that there are two sets sold one is jetted for a totally stock engine meaning stock ignition, exhaust and so on. the other is jetted slightly more rich ment for an engine with a header etc.. i think i have the leaner of the two as i have been having some hot running issues but if it is the jetting i can't blame the carbs. they have stayed very well adjusted, and as long as you get a good linkage (hex bar style) you are good to go. just make sure that the links are the same and that the carbs open at the same time. although if you can figure out the fi stick with it. i wish mine still was. _________________ aircooled for life (1972 squareback cal look) |

There is a FI trouble shooting guide up on my web site.

If you need any more, let me know.
BTW, there aren't 43,324,596 components in the FI system. _________________ Society is like stew. If you don't keep it stirred up, you end up with a lot of scum on the top!--Edward Abbey

PLEASE listen to the others and trouble shoot your current EFI. You will not be sorry. The ICT's have no chokes, so cranky initial running in cool country and they usually don't have a provision for vacuum advance. If you're still set on carbs, you will also need to remove the stock EFI fuel pump (pressure is WAY too high), and instal a mechanical fuel pump, or eletric facet style pump and regulator. _________________ 2%

Most rich running FI systems, are either caused by a bad Pressure sensor, or a leaky hose to the pressure sensor. BUT, first check the charging system. voltage at the battery should be 13.5V-14.5V at approx. 2500 rpm. Low voltage will cause rich running. USE only Bosch voltage regulators.
Check resistance on the plug wires, No greater than 2500 ohms. Check the resistance of the rotor. 3000-4000 ohms.
Fuel pressure should be 28-30 psi. maybe 32 psi tops. _________________ Society is like stew. If you don't keep it stirred up, you end up with a lot of scum on the top!--Edward Abbey

Some Friendly advise from someone who did what you are thinking about doing.....don't....
I had a fi 68 sqaure I converted it to 34 webers and hate the things...If you can try and find the problems with the FI if you are sick of them completely then try and find a stock carb setup with chokes...they make a huge difference. _________________ 64 Ghia mod

The biggest problem with the Weber 34s is most of the kits available today don't come with a balance tube. This tube makes a world of difference in how they are tuned and how they run / respond. About the only kit that has the balance tube comes from CB Performance. The Empi kits don't, and that might be part of the difference in price (along with proper jetting).
But if you can get the FI to work, you'll save some money, and keep it original (damn that make me sound like a purist ). But for what it's worth, the FI is the best set up you can have on these cars, as it gives more power, better fuel economy, and it's already in your car (it's also a very easy to work with system). _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof
