Providing you have put on enough clear or single stage you can achieve results like this with some patience and elbow grease. I put four coats of clear on this car. Then I wet sanded flat with 800 grit. After it was flat I went through the stages and sanded it with 1500, 2500 then 3000 and buffed it to look like a mirror.
It is long process but the results are amazing. Anyone can do this it is merely practice. _________________ I am Matt K. |

I just sprayed my bug with clearcoat. It looks pretty good! 2 coats, but there is a part of the door and back by the quarter panel that I notice a slight bit of orange peel.
Question: 1) Can I sand the affected areas, masking the rest, and put another coat of clear on? I clear coated 5 days ago. 2) what sandpaper or scuff pad should I use?
Base color coat is PPG Shopline BP on top of PPG sealer, clear coat is JC 6700. _________________ China Clippers Official 1971 Super Beetle Project!

I tried sanding/polishing the paint on my 61. I used 800-1000-1500-2000 and was happy with removing a couple of runs and eliminating some orange peel. But I not seeing that deep shine. Do I need to keep polishing. Or is this as good as it gets. TIA
