While I personally have a 1970 Type 3 Fastback, I am frotunate enough to look after a car collection for a friend that has some great cars (Diablo, Countach, Aston Martin, XKE, Morgan, T Birds, Lotus Cortina, +++ ), my favourite is a 1989 911 Speedster that we received just a few weeks ago. The car came from UK, so is one of only 139 RHD examples, and only has 17,500 miles on it. The engine was removed for import duty reasons when it was shipped, and the bumpers front and rear removed. There was quite a bit of corrosion in the bumpers from that wonderful UK road salt, so we had to strip and respray them, plus all the associated fasteners, dampers etc. Now all back together, and it runs beautifully, but we are having a problem with the rear fibreglass tonneau - The bracket mounting plinths were broken away, so these have been repaired, but there is also supposed to be a cable that releases the mechanism lock when you want to raise the tonneau cover in order to access the soft top.
Does anyone know where we can obtain this cable - Or is it more likely that we will have to just buy a cable and make it fit due to a lack of spares for this limited edition model ? I don't even have the part number........ Any help appreciated.
We are also looking for a rubber front windscreen seal - We are putting a new screen in, and although the original rubber seal may be OK, we would prefer to fit a new one. Again, so rare because it is different from a standard 911 windscreen. Our car is the wide body version, using the Turbo shell and 3.2 litre engine.
Any help appreciated. A couple of pics attached for your enjoyment !!
