Kiwi,
So sorry I caused you so much work.
You did such a fine job, on it and the rest of the car!
I retired a week and a half ago and have been too busy to check in here at the Samba.
When (if) I ever get started on my Ghia's "resurection" I will be revisiting your build thread an aweful lot!
Have good time on your trip back to the old country and safe travels,
Wooley |

Retirement is a very busy time! So much to do, so little time. _________________ Festina lente - hasten slowly

Had My Ghia 2 weeks now and starting to get into the nitty gritty, time for an update and some required assistance.
Finally found the leak, new MC to fit, PS the underside of the petrol tanl looks really good condition.
This I think is something to do with the State side emissions, the car now being in the UK can I remove it?
This is a cheap aftermarket "air filter" I cant even turn it to connect to the crankcase breather because it fouls the lid. I dont want to go back to OE anybody have any alternatives?
Thats all for now thanks for reading my tale of wo |

You can order an OEM connector pipe, and put this air cleaner on the end of it. It may look odd, but it will be out of the way, and will flow better than how it is now.
Other option is to shop for a low profile air cleaner, or if you are feeling ambitious, you can modify a stock air cleaner and hide a performance cone filter inside it |

Here's a "How To" from the "Sticky" of the same name. It shows how to convert the stock air cleaner to a "high flow" version: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=424278
First you need a stock air cleaner. _________________ John.

It was slammed and empis etc, raised it up and went to stock rims and 165-80 tires. Stock bumpers are next.

^^^That's an awesome project.
Nothing too exciting here; oil change, valve adjustment, re-torqued some things.

Ruined an NOS swan neck mirror by turning it into a plain ol' used mirror.

Sometimes you just start looking at something -- then suddenly there's a wrench in you hand -- and then -- -- Damn -- what have I done?!?!?!?!?!
